Adventures in Taranaki and Tongariro

On your next adventure trip to New Zealand consider the Taranaki and Tongariro region on the West Coast of the North Island of New Zealand. A few of the adventure possibilities are:-

Skwalking on Mount Ruapehu

Skwalking is a combination of skiing and walking. Close to the edge of many skifields you will find a wild alpine environment. Mount Ruapehu is in the Tongariro National Park, New Zealand and a great place for intermediate skiers with alpine experience to partake in skwalking. If you wander up the slopes you’re likely to et an excellent off-piste (off the skifield) ski run down. You will often see trackes from other people escaping the clutter and aggravation of a normal skifield. A good place to start skwalking is up above the Whakapapa Skifield on the northern slopes of Mt Ruapehu.

Rangitikei River Rafting

If you would prefer to take to the water for some river rafting the you can try an adventure on the Rangitikei River, east of Taihape. This is a one day guided trip suitable for all adventurers. The beautiful and remote Rangitikei River has a sustained section of grade V water, making it one of the most exciting trips in the lower North Island of New Zealand.
